Thought I send these Emails and the link to Fred's skydiving video. I
received them from the D.A.N. Support Group.

Subject: Fred Winter (Wednesday)
I thought some of you might be interested in this bit of news:
As an inspiration to American servicemen returning home from war with
missing limbs, Jennifer's 89 year old father, World War II veteran Fred
Winter, will make his first sky dive from a perfectly good airplane! If
being 89 isn't amazing enough, Fred also has a missing lower leg; the
result of a hunting accident nearly 30 years ago. Add to that a missing
lung due to cancer just a few years ago. Still an avid golfer, swimmer,
and "dog walker", Fred has yet to slow down much.
The event will be covered by much of the local media in his hometown of
Houston and will surely have it's intended effect on the young men
serving our country.
I think we could all take a lesson away from this one!
Sincerely
Jeff

A follow up from last Wednesdays note.
All things considered, Fred's jump went extremely well! A photographer
and reporter from from the Houston Chronicle spent at least 3 hours at
the skydiving place with Fred and Family and the story made the front
page this past Saturday as well as articles in a veterans magazine and
some other things still in the works.. Long story short, as Fred was
boarding the plane, his leg got stuck in the ladder and came off. They
decided to leave it off and he jumped without it since he was attached
to an instructor anyway. The landing turned out to be a little rougher
than hoped for and the heat and length of the day all took little out of
him, but was a neat experience for him and the family. We were blessed
to see the heart of a godly man and warrior--still in action.
