Hello Esther:
EL> I use an older model ALPS Easyliner, and also an ALPS suspension
sleeve. I like the easyliner. The model I'm using is 6mm tapered, I
think, with no fabric, and no pin.
Appreciate your comments. I will be using the new one, 3mm liner,
also no pin since I have a one-way valve in the vottom of my socket.
EL> It's great for relieving shear forces on my skin. I use
cornstarch baby powder inside (and sometimes diaper rash cream) for
the areas around the knee that need to bend.
That is one of the main factors that concern me. I do not know if the
muscle cramping I feel is due to pressure (shear force) or the lack
of torque or rotational force of the stump in the socket giving me
grief. And I have no idea if the components Aaron (my CPO) and I
selected to try will do the trick...increase distance walking with
much less cramping.
EL> I can get a rash when exercising in hot weather - I have to
remove leg, dry my skin, and re-don leg every 15-20 miles when biking
in heat. I think the rash is from salty sweat + heat + airtight
environment. The liner tolerates a fair amount of sweat inside, and
rarely loses grip on my skin (unlike some other liner that I've
used).
Maybe, tho we are now in the low nineties, it will help but I will
have to wait until next summer for our next heat wave to tell:)
And will see if alcohol is a good cleaner. If not, I could drink it.
Booze and motorcycling go together like a horse and carriage. :)
