They're gonna put me in the movies
They're gonna make a big star out of me
We'll make a film about a man that's sad and lonely
And all I gotta so is act naturally
-----sung by the late, great Buck Owens
and Ringo when he drummed with The Beatles
The Vancouver Sun tells us:
VANCOUVER - Mohamed Boima was just a teenager when he lost both his
arms below the elbow to brutal amputation during the civil war that
tore through in his native Sierra Leone.
These days, the soft-spoken 27-year-old calls Burnaby home, and he´s
ready to draw from the horrors of his past to help save the lives of
others.
Boima was among about 100 Lower Mainland residents, age 18 to 60
years, who came out to a unique casting call held Wednesday.
Calgary-based casting director Rhonda Fisekci and crew are in town
this week searching for Afghans, Muslims and amputees to participate
in special "cultural-sensitivity" training sessions aimed at
preparing Canadian troops on their way to Afghanistan.
