Ken Burns, John Sayles, The Coen Brothers, Woody Allen, and Wong
Kar-Wai are jsut a few of the directors who refuse to edit on video.
Find out WHY!! Whether you choose to edit on film or video, a knowledge
of Film-based editing will be a great creative asset. In this workshop,
we will learn the overall process of film-based editing by cutting an
actual unused scene from a feature film, starting with raw workprint and
sound, and trying a few different edits.
Jeremy Hook is an accomplished local film editor who has edited all
three features by local director Gregg Lachow: The Seven Mysteries of
Life, The Wrightt Brothers,, and Money Buys Happiness, as well as
numerous local shorts on both film and video. He recently produced the
feature, Money Buys Happiness,, and is currently co-producing the
feature film, Out of the Blue, by Sue McNally. Jeremy is co-founder of
the Northwest Film Forum, and director of WigglyWorld Studios.

Join WigglyWorld Studios for a special opportunity to work with
award-winning visiting artist E. Elias Mehrige in a unique two-day
workshop, focusing on the dynamics of the creative subconscious. This
workshop is aimed at theater and film actors and artists who are
interested in experimental performance and the nature of the creative
process. We will work intensively with actors and objects to bring
ideas out into the open, exploring the passage from the subconscious to
the conscious.
E. Elias Merhige is an internationally renowned theater and film
director, who will be in Seattle to present his legendary experimental
horror film BEGOTTEN at the Grand Illusion Cinema. In addition to this
highly praised work Mr. Merhige has directed music video and designed
stage sets for MARILYN MANSON, directed live theater at the
internationally acclaimed GHENT REPERTORY in Belgium, and taught film
and aesthetics at NYU. He is the original founder of NYCs acclaimed
THEATEROFMATERIAL, an experimental theater troupe.
