Feminist Dialogues on Social Justice October, 28-29

The Feminist Dialogues on Social Justice conference conceptualizes analytic and political connections across international and intranational perspectives, communities and movements. In promoting these conversations we hope to inspire analyses and reflections that will have implications for the study of historical and contemporary national and transnational formations of genders, races, classes, sexualities and other systems of inequalities.

FREE PUBLIC FORUM

WOMEN ENGAGING GLOBALLY: POVERTY, GLOBALIZATION, TRADE

The League of Women Voters of Washington is hosting a public forum about
U.S. economic policy and its impact on women
around the world. Most of the world's poorest of the poor are women.
Women make up the vast majority of low-wage earners and consumers. We
invite the community to come to this free forum and particularly urge
women activists, leaders and elected officials to attend.

Letter from Campus Radical Women

Hello everybody,

For those of you who read the October 3 issue of the Daily, you likely saw Sarah
Carr’s column “The other ‘F’ word” slandering feminism. It was well
answered in “Free Speech Friday” (October 7) by a senior in Women’s
Studies and the director of the ASUW Women’s Action Commission. Campus Radical
Women also wrote a letter to the Daily countering Carr’s anti-feminism and
columnist Aaron Schwitters’ hit on socialists that appeared next to Carr’s
article.

Campus Radical Women looks especially forward to working with students, staff
and faculty who want to help dispel myths about feminism and socialism through
education and action. To that end we hope you’ll attend CRW’s weekly reading
group on “Women and American Socialism,” which meets at the Ethnic Cultural
Center, Native American Room on Mondays at 7pm. Refreshments will be available
in case you’re hungry.

If you can’t make the reading group, please contact us if you want to work
together or if you'd like to be part of an organization that is dedicated to
achieving the full equality of women in all aspects of life.
