Take a second to check out these rad WAC updates:

WOMEN AND THE WORD

Come check out some brilliant spoken word poetry by UW's very own women artists on TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 23rd at 7:30pm at the Ethnic Cultural Theater (3931 Brooklyn Avenue). This event is free for everyone, so bring your friends. Check out the event invite at http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=145088412205297&ref=ts. Proudly sponsored by WAC and Manic Mouth Congress.

MONOLOGUE SUBMISSIONS

Who doesn't like to talk about vaginas? Well WAC wants to hear about yours! It is more important than ever that we tell our own stories, so this year WAC is taking submissions for monologues and poems from the UW Community. As the commission Director, I'm really excited by this opportunity to talk about issues that have been glossed over in the past. I hope that we can use the Monologues as a forum to talk about not just sexism but about racism, ableism, classism, homophobia, transphobia, ageism and any other of the myriad oppressions women at UW experience, and that we can begin to truly expand these discussions on campus.

Please submit your monologues or poems electronically to ASUWOMN at UW.EDU or submit a hard copy to the Women's Center at Cunningham Hall by DECEMBER 10th, 2010. You can find an example of one of Eve Ensler's monologues at http://www.randomhouse.com/features/ensler/vm/excerpt.html, but please use this only as an example of how it has been done, now how it can be done.

Thank you!
