Hello Everyone! Welcome to the ASUW Women's Action Commission Listserv.
I'm Kirsten Miner, the 2010-2011 WAC Director. I'm very excited to be getting this year's activities underway, and I'd like to give you an update about what WAC has been up to these first few months of school.
WAC Attack! Meetings are being held every Thursday at 7:30pm in the Women's Center at Cunningham Hall. This is a place for the director to keep her constituents updated on WAC activities and a safe space for feminist discussion. Cunningham Hall is located behind Odegaard Library. All our welcome! Please contact me with any questions.
Manic Mouth Congress, a fab spoken word group on campus, and WAC are partnering to put together Women and the Word, a spoken word event featuring women artists. The event will be held at the Ethnic Cultural Theater on Tuesday, November 23rd. We're holding auditions for performers now through the second week in November, so if you are interested in auditioning please contact me. WAC is also in need of volunteers for the event.
The vaginas are coming! WAC is putting together a committee of vagina warriors to plan this year's production of the Monologues - with a twist. This year will be very different from past years, and we need your voice and passion to shape this year's show. If you are interested in volunteering, please join us on Friday, November 5th for an interested volunteer meeting at either 10:30am or 1:30pm in Condon 511B. If you can't make either meeting, please contact me with interest.
Finally, our amazing coordinators have been hosting Women Walk the Talk, a weekly discussion group for first year women. Meetings are Tuesdays from 6pm-8pm in the Women's Center.
Thank you. Please keep an eye out for more cool 'ish from WAC!
