Hello Huskies!

I hope you’re all having a great start of the school year. Are you
interested in being involved in the ASUW Women’s Action Commission this
year? Then here are some opportunities for you!

· Do you (or does someone you know) want to be an *intern* for the
year? Email asuwomn at uw.edu! You’ll work on all our projects and get a
fantastic opportunity to be involved in ASUW.

· Get pumped for our first ever *Women’s Political Action Training*,
in collaboration with the ASUW Office of Governmental Relations. Stay tuned
for the date and location of this wonderful event that will bring us back to
being a Women’s ACTION Commission!

· Other projects in Fall Quarter are TBA, but will include a
combined project with *La Raza Commission* and more!

· Getting ready for the “*Vagina Monologues*” starts now! We’ll be
seeking a director, numerous volunteers to work on logistics, outreach, and
promotion, a stage crew, and actresses. Auditions will be happening later
this quarter, but if you are interested in directing or volunteering, please
email asuwomn at uw.edu with your interest.

· Interested in volunteering for or modeling in the “*Everybody,
Every Body Fashion Show*” in Winter Quarter? Stay tuned for more
information!

· Keep in touch to find out more information about our other
upcoming events of the year, including *La Semana de la Mujer* in Winter
Quarter and *Women’s Health Week* in Spring Quarter!

Other announcements:

2011” panel on Thursday! Details at

· If you’re interested in affordable tuition, accessible financial
aid, and public policy, you should apply to join the ASUW Legislative
Steering Committee! The Legislative Steering
Committee<http://wiki.asuw.org/wiki/Legislative_Steering_Committee>
drafts
the Legislative Agenda
<https://wiki.asuw.org/images/c/c1/LegAgenda1011.pdf> each
year, which is used to direct the lobbying of the ASUW Student Lobbyists.
The LSC acts as a discussion body for legislative issues, and a planning
body for events. As a member of the LSC, you will work to develop the
Legislative Agenda and will also serve on the Legislative Planning Committee
(LPC). The LPC coordinates Lobby Day, an annual event during which UW
students meet with legislators in Olympia and inform them of the priorities
and opinions of college students. Please contact Sarah Round, the Assistant
Director of the ASUW Office of Government Relations at asuwogra at uw.edu if
you have any questions. To apply, fill out the following
application<https://catalyst.uw.edu/webq/survey/asuwogra/144270>.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, with the final deadline of
October 4th. Candidates are encouraged to complete their application before
that date.

· Have a fabulous Dawg Daze and be sure to check out as many events
as possible!
