Hello chess club!
As our first tournament nears it's imminent end, I want to thank all of you who showed interest
and helped make this a very successful event! We have posted the most current results on the
website (http://students.washington.edu/chessuw/) and we look forward to regulating the
chess ladder which will result from the tournament.
Tonight, I will be reviving the teaching aspect of the club and presenting information on
storming the castled position. Basically, it will be an overview of how to attack a king once he's
castled. I hope that the information Gregory and I present is helpful to at least a majority of
members who sit through our lessons, and I want to encourage your input on what we should
teach (i.e. what do you want to learn? What do you need help with?)
I'm looking forward to teaching tonight, and I hope I will be able to convey my enthusiasm for
the game as I once was able to many years ago.
Sincerely,
Brian Mason
Co-President Chess Club at the UW
