I want to make a correction- the following events are to take place on Wednesday October 27, not Monday.

  Hello all!

  I want to announce that we will be having a chess club tournament on the 27th of October to determine the order of our competition ladder. We encourage everyone to join our completion ladder. Our ladder is designed to encourage friendly competition between our chess club members. It does not matter if you are a beginning player, or an advanced player. We will be having tournament play for two groups, a beginning group, and an advanced group- so you will not have to play someone out of your league. If you do not want to join the tournament, you are still welcome to come for casual play- so come and join us!

  If you want to participate in our club ladder, please email us at chessuw_exec at u.washington.edu to let us know that you are interested in playing!

  Please join us for the following upcoming events:

      Chess Instruction for beginning players
      Gregory will teach basic opening rules. 

      Note: we will be closing the meeting early due to midterms

      Chess Instruction for beginning players
      Gregory will show various openings designed for the beginning player. Some of the openings covered are the Italian game, Spanish game, and some of     the popular gambits.

  - Monday October 27 ---------------------------------------------------
