[Chessclub] Updated List and Announcement

Dear Chess Club Members,

This is just a friendly reminder that the start of the Chess Club Round Robin 
Preliminary Tournament (Wed 10/27/04) is quickly approaching.  If you are 
interested and haven't sign up, please do so by noon of Monday 10/25/04.  This 
is to allow me enough time to set the schedule and put people into different 
groups.

Due to the increasing number of interested players, we are going to split 
everyone into 3 groups: beginner, intermediate and advanced.   People who 
haven't given me a self-evaluated rating (1-5, 1=advanced, 5=beginner) will be 
automatically assigned to the beginner group.  Also, because of the large 
number of intermediate players, I will be putting most of these players into 
the intermediate group.  However, some will be randomly assigned to the 
advanced or beginner group.  Keep in mind that this tournament is used merely 
to determine the ranking in the competition ladder.  You will be able to 
challenge people who are above your ranking at the conclusion of the prelim 
tournament.

I've attached the signup list.  Please check to verify that the information you 
provided is correct.  Some people have not given me last name, email address, 
preferred playing time, or self-evaluated rating.  If you are one of them, 
please do so.

On behalf of the Chess Club, I would like to thank all of you for your interest 
in the tournament and Chess Club.  I would like to reemphasize that you are 
always welcome to attend our meetings even if you are not interested in 
participating in the tournament or competition ladder.
