Dear Chess Players,
Our Chess Club Preliminary Tournament started off with a bang this Wednesday and we witnessed 5 great matches. The schedule, updated standings and results are now posted online on our website http://students.washington.edu/chessuw/ladder.html. If you would like your recorded games to be posted on the web, please send Gregory the moves. He has suggested that we record the moves of your interesting games on the web for later teaching and club review.
You only need to play one game per-week. However, due to new members showing interest after the intial schedule was drawn up, we now have a few more games to play. This will cause to tournament to go on longer than planned. In order to try to finish the tournament before December 1st- you may arrange to play the second opponent, or any other opponent in your division that you have not played. If we are still not able to make up some time in a few weeks, Gregory is suggesting that we may wrap things up using a different format. Be sure to send Kenneth all game results after a game has been played.
On another note, some of the people who were scheduled to play on Wednesday did not show up. We know that some of you might be unaware of having a match as we sent you the schedule the day before. We hope that those who did not show up Wednesday will participate next Monday or Wednesday at 5:30 in Parrington 322.
If you cannot make it, please send your opponent an email and ask him or her to reschedule and cc me for scheduling purposes. You may reschedule your match directly with your opponent. Also, if you've signed up but are not interested in participating anymore, please send Kenneth an email immediately. There are some people on our waiting list who are interested in playing. To allow other interested players to participate, f you are not present for your scheduled matches, and we have not heard from you at all by Wednesday, then your spot in the tournament will be replaced by people on the waiting list.
