[Dhsvm-users] Problem in getting the results

Fahad -

For what area are you running and for how many years? What I
immediately notice about your final mass balance is that you have a very
large amount of water as surface storage at the end of your model run.
Since DHSVM does not represent lakes and wetlands, this surface storage
is overland flow and should be a very small quantity of the total mass
balance. For some reason, you have water accumulating on the surface
that is not making its way to the stream network/basin outlet. I
suspect that you must have a dem with sinks that have not been filled.
Water is traveling and accumulating in these internal basins.

Hope this helps,

Laura

Subject: [Dhsvm-users] Problem in getting the results

Dear Users,

I am having problems in getting the output of DHSVM. I
have generated the stream network many times with
different source areas, but in output Channel
Interception always have a very less value. The output
as displayed in console window is following;

--------------------------------------------------
Final Mass Balance

Inflow, 1074.39:
 Precip (mm): 1074.388862

Outflow 534.59:
 ET (mm): 390.022546
 SnowVaporFlux (mm): 28.487217
 CulvertToChannel (mm): 0.000000
 ChannelInt (mm): 116.078727

Storage:
 Initial Storage (mm): 769.328952
End of Run Storage (mm): 1311.402559
        Final SWQ (mm): 2.792698
        Final Soil Moisture (mm): 341.605957
        Final Surface (mm): 967.003954

Other:
 RoadInt (mm): 0.000000
 CulvertReturnFlow (mm): 0.000000
 Mass Error (mm): 2.273262
Mass added to glacier (mm) 0.000000

STARTING CLEANUP

END OF MODEL RUN

It will be very nice if somebody can me that which
parameter has got the problem.

Second this is that in the DHSVM website description
of MassBalance.Only file, it is mentioned that the
units are cubic meters per second. But I think that
the units should be cubic meters per time step.

Waiting anxiously for the reply;

Fahad
