Dear Julia -

If you've written up some instructions on running dhsvm on windows (or,
and this is to everyone, anything useful), I would ask that you send me a
copy so that I can post it on the dhsvm website.  I think I'll make a
'user contributions' page.  that way the efforts of everyone working
through their own private dhsvm implementation nightmare won't be lost to
the group.

(personally, I've had a lot of trouble getting dhsmv to run on
windows/cygwin, using the cygwin gcc.  it seems to be a compiler error -
PARSE errors and the like - so I've had to use the mingw compiler
instead, and that worked fine).

in answer to your questions, though:
1) my guess is that snotelSWE.bin is something you make yourself out of
snotel observations, but I don't know how or what its format is.  I have
written my own shell/GMT scripts for viewing output, so I'm not familiar
with the ones you're using.  (in the olden days many were in Splus which I
never got on with)

2) the model maps (swe, sm) are probably specified in the output Map
section of the main input file, and the instructions for that should
be on the dhsvm website.

3) as for a dhsvm meeting, I think I'd be game for this but the questions
are when, where, and who would organize it (assuming there are no funds
for such a thing).  there is a UW-UBC hydrology meeting at the end of the
month, so I can raise the subject with dhsvm users there and solicit
opinions.  there is a bunch of dhsvm development work going on at UW now
that might be nice to share with the group.
