Mark,

I will try to give brief answers.

(1) I believe that the tutorial provides you with the plot_modelmap.scr
script (GMT scripts) . If you
read it, you will see that it uses the myconvert to go back to ascii
format, then adds the previously saved header and there you are, you have
your arcGIS format for plotting. ( Just ignore the step with the GMT
command). I will put the script on the website as well, under the TOOLS
section.

(2) in the configuration file, you specify which statefile to use. If you
change your period run of the input file, you should change this as well.
The tutorial might not have specified this step.

(3.b)
- Units per cubic meter per time step, i.e. cubic meter per 3 hours if 3
hour is your time step.
- negative numbers. correct me if I am wrong but it looks like you have no
water ( precipitation) and this is a start of a run. Those negative
numbers are very small and could be round off errors. DO you still have
negative number at the end of your run?

(3.c) Stream.Flow. The documentation on the website at
http://www.hydro.washington.edu/Lettenmaier/Models/DHSVM/output_network.shtml
explains that "if the line is for a single segment the remaining fields
are as follows:
6 real ( columnn #6)
Change in segment storage, m, occurring within the previous routing time
step."

meaning that this can be negative during a recession period.

"totals" if for the entire network ( all stream segments).

(3.d to 3.f) you are correct. See earlier remarks on the units.

Nathalie
