[Dhsvm-users] Linux or Unix

Mohammad or others:
Although this is not directly answering your question, I wanted to add
that the operating system you use makes a lot of difference in the speed
of DHSVM computations. I started running DHSVM on a UNIX system and my
model runs were taking a few hours each. When I ran the same
computations on a LINUX system I found my computation times were reduced
to 10-20% of the UNIX system times. LINUX is a much more "efficient"
system and if you can find this resource for your modeling it can
significantly reduce model run times.

Running two models (i.e., different parameter values) at the same time
on a dual processor machine should take about the same time as one model
on a single processor machine.
Three models at the same time will, of course, take longer, 4 longer
still etc., with the increase approx. linear after 2 models, because
DHSVM is doing a lot of calculation.
That's what happens on the dual-processor Sun I am using at present.
