An AmeriCorps National Service program
locally sponsored by the Fremont Public Association

JustServe AmeriCorps is a partnership between the Fremont Public Association, Seattle Police Department and the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) to prevent youth violence, domestic violence and hate crimes-by placing 33 full-time, stipended national service volunteers in violence prevention activities throughout our community. These activities are all designed to provide participants with a safe and healthy environment in which to practice taking risks, ask for and give support, develop positive peer and mentor relationships, gain exposure to fields of potential career interest, increase community engagement, and develop self-esteem.

Responsibilities may include: engage individual participants in conversations about volunteerism and their interests; cultivate appropriate group and individual service learning projects within a group of community contacts; communicate with community volunteer supervisors to assure participant compliance; coordinate and participate in group service projects to demonstrate a service ethic by example; and facilitate meaningful conversations after service projects to identify the benefits and lessons of each project.
