Crab Creek Review, a local literary magazine of poetry and short
fiction, seeks two interns. There is one editorial position and one
marketing position. College credit available. Quarterly commitment
with possibility of renewal.

*Editorial Intern responsibilities:*

Log in and batch submissions
Respond to contributor inquiries
Respond to subscriber inquiries
Input and proof content
Input and edit contributor notes

We receive and read thousands of submissions throughout the year and put
out two issues/year. The editorial intern will help organize the
reading process, communicate with our audience and writers, and participate
in the production of the magazine. Please note that you will not be
reading submissions for selection. This is not a
reading position; rather, it is a great way to learn the administrative
ins and outs
of how a literary magazine gets to market.

*Marketing Intern responsibilities:*

Grant writing
Fundraising
Organizing readings and other literary events
Procuring equipment
Communicating with other local organizations

We are ready to tackle some new and fun projects, such as designing T-
shirts and other products, and are in the process of overhauling the
software we use. We need someone who is interested in learning how a
small non-profit can not only secure resources, but increase its
presence in the local arts scene.

*General Info:*

Time commitment of 3-5 hours a week requested, plus availability every
other week for an evening meeting of approximately 3 hours. Computer
access essential, and knowledge of InDesign and Filemaker a plus. We're
looking for someone with a good eye, a good nature, and some
initiative. This internship is ideal for someone who is interested in
learning about the production of a literary magazine and who likes to
work on their own with little supervision. Absolutely no pay (for any
of us), but if we like you, we'll buy you a cup of coffee.

To apply, please send an e-mail to <editors at crabcreekreview.org
<mailto:editors at crabcreekreview.org>> with
cover letter, resume, and short writing sample (preferably non-
fiction) attached. Subject line should read "Internship Application."
Deadline to apply is October 24, 2005. For more information about the
magazine,
