Want a career that lets you use your great writing skills?  Here's your 
chance next week to meet local editors and writers eager to share their 
stories and advice with students majoring in Communications, English, 
and related fields:


Careers in Writing and Editing for new Media workshop
Tuesday, October 18, 2005
Communication bldg. - Room 126
7 PM to 9 PM

Sponsored by the Department of Communication and the Association for Women
in Communications

Four successful local editors and writers will discuss their careers and
what skills and experience students who are interested in a similar career
paths should be acquiring while still in school.

Elise Chisholm has a BS in Marketing from Marquette University. She is an
Account Executive at the ad agency Publicis Dialog in Seattle. Her clients
include the Washington Lottery for which she executed marketing promotions
including the Lottery's first web-based promotion, the Lotto Feel Life A
Million makeover challenge.

Elisabeth Keating has a BA in Social Studies from Harvard and certificates
from the UW in multimedia and nonfiction writing. She has worked in several
contract writing and editing positions for Microsoft and is currently a
freelance technical writer and content editor.

Kim Runciman is a UW grad with BAs in Communication and English. She has
been a copyeditor and writer for over 20 years, working for various
Northwest companies such as REI, PCC and Microsoft. She is currently a
copyeditor for Slate online magazine.

Panel Moderator Kathleen F. Miller is a UW grad with BA's in Business
Administration and Communication. She is a freelance writer for publications
and websites including Seattle Magazine, ParentMap magazine and Seattle
CitySearch.  She also owns Blue Emu Communications which provides marketing
consultation and website development to a variety of clients.
