Are you committed to public service in the community and interested in
further
developing your leadership skills? Do you want to make a difference in
your
community but don't have the time or money?

Students applying for the Munro Fellowship are selected based on their
proposed
self-initiated community project. Munro Fellows are supported through a
monetary award and guidance from Carlson Center staff and their own mentors.

The Munro Fellowship was created to encourage a life-long commitment to
public
service by providing outstanding undergraduates with the opportunity to
explore
their potential for service and leadership in the community. The Munro
Public
Service Fellowship is made possible through the support of the Henry M.
Jackson
Foundation.

The application deadline is October 28, 2005. Munro fellows will be
selected
by mid-November and awarded their fellowship at the beginning of winter
quarter
2006. Awards will be between $2200 and $4500, depending on the number of
fellows selected.

Prospective Munro Fellows should include the following information in an
application packet. These materials comprise the application, there is
not a
paper form or online form:
o Name and contact information (phone and email)
o Transcript(s) (unofficial is fine)
o Description of yourself as a citizen and leader (500 to 1000 words)
o Public service initiative description: What project will you undertake
as a Munro Fellow and what difference will it make? (maximum 2000 words)
o Name and contact information of a community member who is working with
you on this initiative (and who can be contacted as a "reference")

The application deadline is 5pm on Friday, October 28, 2005. They can be
delivered to the Carlson Center in 120 Mary Gates Hall or emailed
directly to
Michaelann Jundt at mjundt at u.washington.edu.
