The English Advising Office is looking for a senior English major for
the position of office assistant from Autumn Quarter 2007 through Winter
Quarter 2008.Take advantage of this great opportunity to work on campus,
build professional skills for your resume, and help fellow English majors!
As you know, English Advising provides academic services to English
majors and premajors, students interested in English courses and special
programs, and other members of the community. We're looking for an
outgoing, articulate, dependable senior to take on some basic office
responsibilities and other tasks as assigned:
Pay:
$10.00 per hour (This is also available as a work study position. If
you don't know whether you're eligible for work study, check with
Financial Aid.)
Duties:
- Provide front-line reception in person and on the phone.
- Provide office support including mailings, errands, word processing,
data entry, photocopying, filing (lots of filing!), and more.
- Direct the flow of student traffic to appropriate advisers, other
department staff people, and faculty.
- Provide students with departmental literature and other written
materials, assuming more responsibility for information dissemination
with increasing experience.
- Adhere strictly to federal regulations guaranteeing confidentiality of
ALL student academic records.
- Work in a team-oriented environment.
Requirements:
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Basic computing skills.
- Be available to work 12 to 19.5 hours per week, between the hours of
9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
