Dear English Majors,
For those of you interested in study abroad, this email is to inform you
that the Spring in London Program web page has been updated for Spring
Quarter 2009:
http://depts.washington.edu/engl/abroad/london.php
Applications are currently available in English Advising, or one may be
mailed or emailed to you upon request.
The program is open to all students in all majors, but there are two
English courses that can satisfy requirements in the English major.
Participants enroll in 3-4 of the courses offered, earning 15-20 credits
for the program.
"London Theater," ENGL 444, taught by UW English Professor Tom Lockwood,
is a Senior Capstone course, and "Modernist London," ENGL 490, taught by
UW English Professor Jessica Burstein, is a Histories of Language and
Literature course. The two courses offered by our British faculty,
"Art, Architecture and Society," taught by Peter Buckroyd, and
"Contemporary Britain," taught by Michael Fosdal, take place on the
streets and in the buildings of London, and are primarily taught in a
peripatetic, or 'walk and learn' style. All courses in the Spring in
London program take full advantage of being on-site, and theater
tickets, museum admissions, and other group excursions are included in
the program fee.
Admission to the program is on a first-come, first-served basis, and as
of this email, 15 students have applied. The enrollment limit is 30
students.
