Dear all,
The Roosevelt Institution at the UW is having its first meeting on Tuesday, May
20. The Roosevelt Institution is a non-profit, non-partisan student-run think
tank with dozens of chapters across the country. Members are mainly involved in
researching and writing policy proposals on a wide variety of national and
international issues such as human rights, environmental protection, and
national security. Campus chapters provide a forum where students can discuss
public policy and publish their work on a local and national level.
We hope to start a campus-run publication and supplement our publication work
with other activities and events that would connect our chapter to the rest of
the UW community and the Seattle area. The chapter would be organized around
issue-based policy centers. Students who are writing a thesis, interested in
doing research, or looking to get their work read by local and national
policymakers would be encouraged to become Roosevelt Fellows at the UW.
The chapter will officially launch early in the fall, but this
meeting should be a great way to introduce you to the chapter and to the other
Roosevelt officers and me. We also want to hear what youd like to see happen
with this group.
The meeting will be held between 6-8 pm at the Lutheran Center. This is a
community center located right off campus on 4130 University Way NE. Please
feel free to come and leave whenever you wish.
We will be providing food/beverage at this event, so if you plan on attending,
it would be really helpful if you would let me know as soon as possible (we
want
to get an idea of how much food we need to order).
Please let me know if you have any questions.
I hope to see you there,
Victoria Stephanova
Chapter President
