ESS 104 PREHISTORIC LIFE (3) NW Instructor: Linda Reinink-Smith "This is a
course designed for students requiring NW credits and/or thinking about
majoring in the natural sciences. It examines the history of life on Earth
as revealed by fossils, exploring in particular the dramatic changes that
have occurred in ecosystems through time. Topics such as mass extinctions,
explosive radiations, the earliest life forms, the conquest of the land,
the ecological effects of climate change, and the reconstruction of past
lives will be covered. Laboratory sessions using actual fossil specimens
will examine how paleontological data are obtained and used."
