Dear Enhance Participants,
It has been brought to my attention that the report on the June 27th
Enhance Sharing Session at ALA Annual in Anaheim may have inadvertently
not actually been distributed to the Enhance discussion list. If this
is the case, I sincerely apologize. Here is the message and the
attached report, which I thought I had sent on July 11th. Please
forgive me for the mix-up and if you happen to be seeing this message
for a second time.

Dear Enhance Participants,
Attached is a report on the Enhance Sharing Session that took place at
the American Library Association Annual Conference in Anaheim on Friday,
2008 June 27. Following that report is the text of the "News From OCLC"
handout that was distributed at the session. Special thanks to Shana
McDanold of the University of Pennsylvania for her diligent note-taking.
If you were not at the Enhance session in Anaheim and have not otherwise
heard about Glenn Patton's presentation, I would urge you to read the
report, which includes Glenn's notes on OCLC's proposed "Expert
Community Experiment." We at OCLC are most eager to hear your feedback
about our ideas for expanding the scope of both Enhance and Database
Enrichment. We hope that the dialog begun in Anaheim will continue here
on the Enhance discussion list.
Please note that the Enhance Participants List is available at
http://www.oclc.org/worldcat/quality/enhance/default.htm and most other
Enhance documentation can be accessed from the "Enhance-Level
Cataloging" section of the OCLC Web site's "WorldCat and Cataloging
Documentation" page at
http://www.oclc.org/support/documentation/worldcat/.
Finally, a reminder that I cannot make often enough. This Enhance
discussion list is also an appropriate forum for many of the topics
raised in the sharing session, to ask questions either of OCLC or of
other Enhance participants. The University of Washington has been kind
enough to create and host this list but it does not get used nearly
enough. Please take advantage of this list and the information sharing
opportunities it affords. If you are reading this message, you have most
likely already subscribed to the Enhance list, but if you have
colleagues who have not subscribed but wish to, please refer them to the
sign-up page on the University of Washington Web site at
https://mailman1.u.washington.edu/mailman/listinfo/enhance.
As always, thank you for all the work you do to uphold the quality
standards of OCLC's WorldCat.
