[Enhance] Uncertain Dates in Call Numbers

We have a local practice of using a capital "X" in the date portion
of LC call numbers locally when the date is uncertain. For example,
if 260c is [197-?], we use 197X as the date in our call number. LC
practice would be to use 1970z (or 1970 if a corporate body).
My question is, when adding an 050 to a record I'm enhancing, using
indicators 14, am I allowed to use 197X or should I use 1970z?
The 14 indicators in the 050 are key here (meaning not assigned by
LC). I'm not sure how strictly we should follow LC's practice in this case.
Thanks for your time.
