Dear all,
I'm doing research on the development of regional food systems and
therefore I'm looking for examples in countries in the Global South where
regional food systems are being developed/supported.
To me an ideal regional food systems is: "a system in which as much food as possible
to meet the population's food needs is produced, processed,
distributed and purchased at multiple levels and scales within the
region, resulting in maximum resilience, minimum importation, and
significant economic and social return to all stakeholders in the
region". A regional food system includes "local" but is larger
geographically and in terms of functions (volume/supply, food needs,
variety, supply chains, markets, land use, and policy). (Kate Clancy
and Kathryn Ruhf. Is local enough? Some arguments for regional food
systems. Choices 2010)
I would be pleased to receive any literature on contacts on regional food systems in the South.
