I would suggest establishing a neighbourhood market with local fresh food. Our program has helped establish these markets in several neighbourhoods in the Waterloo Region. Contact Sanjay Govinderaj for information as to how he did this in our area. Email: sgovinderaj at regionofwaterloo.ca
Also - why not establish more community gardens in your neighbourhood hubs? See www.community-gardens.ca

Hello Food Planners,
I am working in Seattle and have a very isolated community with no easy
access to healthy food. The South Park neighborhood has about 4000 people
and is geographically bound by water, a recently-closed bridge, and
industrial areas. Residents drive to nearby communities to shop because
they have no groceries in their own neighborhood. Can anyone recommend case
studies on how and whether to work with metro to create shopper shuttle
routes?
Thanks!
Tammy
