I'm currently running a non-profit GIS shop with Eugene
Martin called CommEn Space. Couple things I wanted to share with you...

One - we're finishing an assessment of non-profit organizations using GIS
in the region for funders interested in better honing their support of
technology. It will also leave us with a rich resource indexing groups for
those students interested in environmental GIS work. 

And two - we've implemented a more formal intern program here at CommEn
Space. We're hoping to bring some qualified students in on several of our
projects upcoming including one involving salmon habitat modeling for the
Muckleshoot Tribe.
