Duties: Under direction of the GIS Manager, the incumbent will work with
various OES programs to utilize various modeling capabilities with the
OES
GIS, design new data components, GIS application programming, and
interfaces with program staff to integrate GIS capability within OES
program areas. Tasks include, but are not limited to, integration of
spatial models such as FARSITE, EPEDAT, CATS and HAZUS into GIS database
and standard Notes/Internet interface; develop and maintain the databases
associated with the models; work with program staff to upgrade the
functionality of the models; design, develop and generate the appropriate
graphics/reports from models. Research, analyze and provide written
recommendations regarding spatial models and geographic data products;
survey commercial datasets, provide recommendations, and upon approval of
GIS manager, set up contracts for the purchase of data to maintain a
comprehensive statewide GIS database, including updated demographics and
analysis packages.
Incumbent may also participate in the design and implementation of
emergency response GIS training program.

LAND INFORMATION SYSTEMS MANAGER

County of Volusia, Florida, Information Technology Group is seeking a
seasoned Land Information Systems Manager to spearhead the development of
an integrated enterprise land information system. This position involves
developing and managing relationships between County and outside
agencies,
coordinating multi-participant projects, assisting in vendor selections,
direct management of GIS and land systems application programming staff,
and providing key management and technological support/strategies.
The present environment consists of legacy land records applications and
a
mature GIS. Plans are underway for replacement of existing permitting,
transportation and property ownerships systems. The technology
environment
for Volusia County includes IBM RISC/6000 and IBM OS/390 using AIX,

NT, Novell, VM and VSE operating systems. Application software consists
of
