We have finally received permission to open up some spaces for our daytime students in an evening degree course, Geog 478, Intraurban Spatial Patterns. This is a capstone course for those of you in the Urban/Social/Political concentration, and is taught by one of our advanced doctoral students, Catherine Veninga, who has been a TA for us in many capacities in the past.

In this advanced course on urban geography we will examine various economic, cultural, and political processes that impact urban change. In addition to looking at trends such as redevelopment in the current context of globalization, we will also focus on the recursive relationship between urban space and social identity. Specifically, we will examine the ways in which identities described by race, ethnicity, class, gender, sexuality, and immigration are given spatial expression.
