Hi all,
Below is an internship opportunity with the E.B. Dunn Historic Garden; if you have the appropriate skill set, this would be a great way to weave together multiple threads of your education in Geography.
All the best,
Todd
E.B. Dunn Historic Garden Mapping Project
If you have some experience working with web page development and have some
GIS experience, this opportunity for an internship or independent study
project may be a good fit for you. The E.B. Dunn Historic Garden in North
Seattle is looking for help revising and updating a web-based map of its
garden. They are looking to create a web-based map that is embedded with
additional information, such as plant lists and photos, linked to specific
mapped areas in the garden. See www.dunngardens.org to learn more about this
1914 Olmsted designed 8 acre nonprofit garden open for public tours by
appointment. This is a first small project. Others projects may be developed
further. This project could be handled as independent study credit or
internship credit (probably 3 credits), during spring, summer, or autumn
quarters 2008. If you have completed 360 and have some web development
experience you have obtained elsewhere, this should be sufficient
preparation.
If you are interested in the please contact Sue Nevler (a graduate of UW
Geography!) at gnevler at msn.com for more information. I would serve as the
faculty of record for the internship credits.
Best,
Prof. Elwood
