Job Announcement - GIS Internship
Job Title: GIS Internship
Job Description: ESA Adolfson seeks a motivated individual who shares an
interest in environmental planning and has experience in Geographic
Information Systems, cartography, and spatial analysis. This position's
main responsibilities include georeferencing, editing, digitizing and map
production to support an on-going cultural resources mapping project in
Eastern Washington. Other duties would include (but are not limited to) map
production for print and digital presentation, data collection and
management, spatial analysis, and assisting our GIS staff with GIS
operations in the Northwest Region. The position is 20-40hrs/week (~6 month
timeframe).
Primary tasks include:
* Georeferencing, editing and digitization of disturbance-related
occurrences from historic construction plan drawings
* Day-to-day delivery of GIS analysis and map production to support
a staff of 40 planners and scientists;
* GIS data collection and management;
* Post-processing GPS data to GIS formats; and
* Coordination with other graphic design staff and AutoCAD users
in-house;
Minimum Qualifications: 1+ year relevant experience (may include coursework
in GIS, geography, environmental planning, or related studies).
Demonstrated high standards for cartographic design, visual communication,
and attention to detail are essential. The position requires skills and
demonstrated experience with ESRI ArcGIS software. Knowledge of Washington
state natural resource and/or city and county datasets preferred. The
candidate must also be an independent, self-directed, problem solver capable
of working under tight deadlines and responding to the immediate needs of
clients.
