SLINK SLAM: Social Sciences Faculty/Grad Student Panel Discussion

*************************************************

A student-sponsored presentation by the Social Science Learning Link (SLink)

\ The Financial Meltdown: What Caused It? How Do We Fix
It?

-How do scholars in different fields look at the same massive problem?

-Do their explanations complement each other, or are they at odds?

-When experts disagree, is that simply inevitable, or is it because they
study different things and answer different questions?

Come see how faculty and grad students from different social science
disciplines come at such a large topic from vastly different perspectives,
asking different questions, offering different ideas about what constitutes
a good answer and disagreeing about what constitutes good evidence. We
expect a lively, fun, spirited discussion that should shed light on the
topic and on the differences and similarities among the social sciences, and
we hope that you can attend!

Participants include:

Matt Sparke, UW Dept. of Geography, and

Joel Migdal, UW School of International Studies

Monday, March 2, 4-5pm

Smith 120

Free food and beverages

All are welcome to attend!
