Many of you have heard that the University has been planning to adopt a new policy regarding satisfactory completion of the foreign language requirement. That policy is now official and detailed in the following link:

http://depts.washington.edu/trnews/spr09/article.php?ar_id=209

The major change is that completion of three years of the same foreign language in high school will now satisfy the foreign language requirement. If your transcript reflects the language classes you took in high school, your degree audit should show that the foreign language requirement has been satisfied **starting in the fall**. This change does not apply to those planning to graduate during spring and summer quarters.

If you have questions about this new policy and what it means for you, please contact Rick Roth.

My best,
Todd
