This Week in Global Health (http://depts.washington.edu/deptgh/news_events/ghevents_thisweek.php)
Dear All, Some of the highlights of this week and next include at least three events today (Wednesday) on immigration law and global health; IHME seminar with the deputy director of measurement, learning, and evaluation in global health; and an election primer with public health faculty pals.
Next week includes two great events on Monday -- a UW School of Public Health Special Lecture on climate change and health in Southern Africa and a Washington Global Health Alliance Discovery Series lecture on the international oral health crisis. Meanwhile, next Tuesday is a brown bag lecture with the founder of an NGO in Bangladesh speaking on water and sanitation.
We have news on a new Global Medicines Program launched in the Department of Global Health; a video from Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn speaking on global health; and a competition for students to address a critical global health challenge.
We also have links to an award-winning video on a group of Seattle fourth graders trying to vaccinate two villages in Ghana from measles; a well-done PBS series on the social determinants of health; and an article in the New England Journal of Medicine by Dr. Paul Farmer and others on an international service corps for health.
Have a great week!
