Correct.  Using standard old mbox format.

Yes.

I suspect the trouble is related to the case-insensitive filesystem.
Traditionally Mail/ or mail/ was the real directory and the other was a
symlink.  But I had to get rid of the symlinks.  So it may not see that
Mail/ exists (because the directory is really mail/), but once it
tries, it finds that it does exist.

However, my mail dir was Mail/, which is exactly what I told imapd it
is.  As an experiment, I just renamed it from Mail/ to mail/ and it
made no difference.
