Ha, well, as a matter of fact I am having a problem, and was attempting to
find the solution myself before I thought to send an email to the list.
It's a good thing I did, since I am apparently barking up the wrong tree.
I am trying to get imap to post an entry into /var/log/lastlog. There is
a PAM module that does this: /lib/security/pam_lastlog.so. I have a
'session optional pam_lastlog.so' line in the /etc/pam.d/imap file, but it
does nothing. Changing the line to 'session required' makes no
difference.
I tried pam_lastlog.so in the common session file (which all PAM config
files reference), just to ensure the module was working, and indeed, cron
started updating lastlog. Imap did not, however.
I need to get a better understanding of PAM, but does imap use PAM session
hooks? That might explain why this isn't working, since we've established
that imap uses PAM.
Thanks for your help. :)
Paul
