Hokkaido International Foundation (H.I.F.)
The 17th Annual Homestay and Study Program
Hakodate, Hokkaido Japan
http://www.host.or.jp/net/hif/
Dates: June 20 - August 16, 2002
Established in 1986, the program is based on proficiency-oriented
instruction
to help students enhance their communicative skills in all aspects of
Japanese.
HIF welcomes applications from college students and professionals
from all over the world. In the year 2001, 59 students from 7 countries
participated in this program.
The program offers:
*A great opportunity for students to learn about and experience the Japanese
culture first hand.
*Small class size and classmates from all over the world.
*All instructors hold an M.A. or Ph.D. degree in Japanese Pedagogy or a
related field and have years
of experience teaching the language at universities in the U.S.
*Homestays with host families who are all very experienced and dedicated to
the program.
*The historic city of Hakodate, as you may know, is one of the most
beautiful, quiet, and hospitable
cities in Japan. It is also an ideal location to spend a summer
because you can avoid the summer heat prevalent in most areas of Japan.
(Don't forget to bring your light sweater!)
*The cost of living in Hakodate is fairly cheap compared to big cities such
as Tokyo and Osaka.
