gte dsl

So I'm helping my Mom get her new dsl set-up (it comes in a "easy self
install kit").  Admittedly, she's using winblows for now, but once we
can get it working with win98, we'll switch over to a masquerading setup
with her linux box.

My question is, does anyone have experience with gte's dsl
installation?  I am fairly sure she has the hardware set up correctly,
but she mentioned that there are three lights on the front of the
modem...power, modem, and data.  Only the power light is lit and I'm
wondering if that means the dsl connection is not turned on at the house
yet?

Any help is appreciated as always :)
