"My suggestion would be to use linux fdisk to wipe the drive and then start

Been there, done that, wrote the screenplay.

"If you kill all partitions from linux fdisk, does the ibm software see the
drive correctly?" (Cliff)

No.

"Not to bark up the wrong tree, but you aren't using extra long cables for
the drive are you?" (Cliff)

No. And it works fine with Linux.

"I'd say, if you can't get windows or dos to play with it, you'll just have
to suffer with a 30 gig linux drive." (Cliff)

I'm afraid I've come to the same conclusion. Works fine in Linux. I don't
really need a total of 38.4 GB for Linux, but hey, let's just say I've got
roooooom to expaaaaand.

I ordered another one to put on the Windows box. And I won't let Linux fdisk
anywhere near it. My wife will kill me (kill), but, hey, a man's gotta do
what a man's gotta do...
