dsniff problems

Has anyone here ever used dsniff? I am trying to use it to evaluate the
security of the network here, but the man page isn't very descriptive. It
doesn't say anything as to what all the switches/arguments do for any of the
applications (dsniff, webspy, mailsnarf, etc). I am chiefly interested in
dsniff. I ran it without any arguments as root (it wouldn't run as a normal
user) in x windows and it totally froze the system, I had to restart. So I'm
wondering which switches and/or arguments to use... Thanks!
