still working on modem

First, thanks to everyone who's helped me so far. I think I've made
some progress, but I'm stuck again. I managed to get Linux to actually
acknowledge the existence of my modem; when I run isapnp on the
isapnp.conf file, I get the following return:
Board 1 has Identity d0 00 00 11 9c 20 27 b0 4e: SUP2720 Serial No 4508
[checksum d0] SUP2720/4508 [0] {Diamond SupraExpress 56i SP v.90}: IRQ
4 --- Enabled OK
So far, so good (right?). But when I try to run minicom, I get the
following error message:
minicom: WARNING: configuration file not found, using defaults
minicom: cannot open /dev/modem: No such file or directory
Also, when I try querying the modem in Kppp, it says that the modem is
ready, but nothing comes up on the query results screen. I'm (almost)
positive that I've selected the right device -- but I tried all of them
just in case. [side question: which do I use for a modem -- ttyS?, or
cau?]
At any rate, this is where I'm stuck. Any ideas would be greatly
appreciated.
Thanks,
Robyn
