How to start X in 32bit depth?

I know that you can start X at 32bit mode by typing "startx -- -bpp 32" at
the console but, how do you get it to start in 32bit mode by just typing
"startx"? Whenever I do that it starts in 8bit mode.

Thanks for any help!
