X-Windows - connection to "0.0." refused

Ok, unless someone tells me otherwise I am going to run vmware as root. I need
to be able to run it under x-windows while logged in as benh if at all
possible. So I open a virtual console and get the following:

[benh at mandrake benh]$ su
Password:
[root at mandrake benh]# vmware
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: Invalid MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 key
Error: Can't open display: :0
[root at mandrake benh]#

How do I get rid of this error and allow myself to run vmware as root from
xwindows (when I am logged in as benh)?

Thanks! - Ben -
