Cliff,

I've heard a number of people who do this stuff for "fun and profit" say
that PPP over SSH is not very reliable or easy to use.  Two solutions
I've heard people are using on campus are CIPE and Free/SWAN.  You can
find links to both on my home page.  I think that NFS should work
equally well over either one.  (I still haven't had time to try them out
myself, so keep me in the loop on your progress.)
