Okay, sorry to send this to the Linux User Group, this isn't linux-related. I just received my replacement Quantum Atlas IV Ultra160 SCSI hard drive today, to find that it too does not work, with the exact same problem as before! The chances of me getting two bad enterprise-class drives in a row is very slim, so i must begin to suspect other things. I'm using an Adaptec 29160 Ultra160 SCSI controller card and a self-terminated LVD cable (supplied with the card). I've talked quite a long time to both Quantum tech support and Adaptec tech support, and found no apparent solution to my problem. Unfortunately, I do not have any other SCSI devices with which i can test to determine whether it is the card, the cable, or the drive that is causing the problem. So... if someone has any 68-pin SCSI device and would be willing to allow me to test my card, cable, and drive in your system (to also rule out a possible motherboard incompatibility) possibly testing with your device too, please let me know. It should not take very long at all (since I can tell right after boot-up whether it works or not, because that is where the system usually hangs), and it would be GREATLY APPRECIATED! Let me know how I might be able to make it up to you, and I'll see what I can do.
