Later this afternoon I'm having @home activated (installed) at my place.
I know there has already been a ton of discussion regarding @Home and the
service they provide. There's on thing that had me confused when I
talked with the rep on the phone though...he said that they usually deal
in dynamic IPs...but he said that if I was nice enough to the tech who's
coming to my place that he might give me a static IP. What's the deal
with that? Sounds pretty shady to me.
On another note, are there different kinds of cable modems (I'm thinking
like internal/external like the DSL modems) I should watch out for? I
plan to go from the cablemodem to a NAT box with two network interfaces
(for local net and for Internet). If you've done this and want to warn me
about anything feel free =)
Thanks!
