Running Solaris apps on Linux?

I haven't read the messages on this thread, so I apologize if this repeats
something that someone might have just posted (or if it has nothing to do
with the original question).  It's easily possible to print from Linux to
a printer that has a JetDirect card, without needing any JetDirect
software.  Just set up your printcap to print to a remote IP.  JetDirect
cards present an lpd daemon that Linux and other Unices interact with
perfectly.  The card should be assigned a static IP for this to work well.
