Kernel module questions:

Hi guys,

I've rtfmed but I can't find something on inserting modules
automatically.

On my VAIO laptop I have a NeoMagic 256AV soundchip. This chip is
supported in the newer 2.2 and 2.3 kernels. When I compiled it in as a
kernel option, the stupid thing doesn't work. So I cmpiled it in as a
module, and give the commands:

insmod /lib/modules/2.2.14/misc/sound.o
insmod /lib/modules/2.2.14/misc/nm256.o

To load sound support and the device driver.

Of course, I'd like to see this automated, but I don't know
how. I stuck the commands into my /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit file but I don't
think it's executing. Where would be a good place to stick this so that
it'll load on startup?

(I don't want to recompile because I am afraid that recompiling
might break the experimental module that my ethernet card (Xircom
Realport) runs off on).
